Part set of the important early 20th century French photography magazine, published monthly.
Consists of the following issues : Premiere annee (1903), nos. 1, 3-11; Deuxieme annee (1904), nos. 2, 3, & 7-12; Troisieme annee (1905), complete 1-12; Quatrieme annee (1906), nos 2-6, 8, 9, 11; Cinquieme annee (1907), no. 6; Sixieme annee (1908), complete year, with the catalogue for the Salon International du Photo-Club de Paris of 1908.
La Revue de Photographie was published annually from 1903-1908, thus this set encompasses it's entire era of publication. The editorial committee consisted of R. Bourgeois, M. Bucquet, R. Demachy, E. Matthieu, C. Puyo. The magazine stands as the most important European revue of pictorialist photography, and is renowned for its range of photogrpahic reproduction. The magazine contains numerous hors-texte plates, illustrating works by the principal European and American photographers of the day including Puyo, Demachy, Lebergue, De Meyer, Stieglitz, and Steichen, and also includes a number of articles on photographic technique, and critiques of the artist's work.
4to. Years 3 & 6 bound in matching morocco-backed marbled boards. The remaining issues in original wrappers (condition of wrappers vary, with the majority intact, but several frayed with covers detached). Illustrated throughout, including numerous tipped-in hors-texte plates.
