Fine presentation copy of the de luxe edition of Edwards' Scinde with hand-written paper label to front pastedown: 'Presentation Copy / Mrs. Robt. Cornish / Hills Court - Exeter / with William Edwards's [sic] / very Kind Regards'.

Edwards' work, 'illustrative of the scenery and architecture of Scinde and the adjacent frontier,' was dedicated to Sir Charles Napier as Governor of Scinde and Bellochistan. Edwards was, at the time, serving as a Lieutenant in the 86th or Royal County Down Regiment.

Tinted lithograph title with portrait of General Napier, his printed signature and printed text and ten tinted lithograph views, all mounted to larger sheets of card and with additional hand-colouring and heightened with gum arabic (sheets size: 450 x 555 mm.; image size: c.275 x 380 mm.), leaf of text printed in blue with dedication to Napier and description of the plates. Loose as issued in original red morocco-backed ochre board portfolio, gilt title and large vignette to upper board, yellow paper pastedowns and brown cloth ties.
