Edition of 150 copies (including 10 copies on papier de chiffon à la main A. G. Chabrol teinté jaune, 125 copies on papier de chiffon gris souris and 15 hors commerce on papier emballage); copy on papier de chiffon gris souris stamp-numbered 42 on the justification and with a presentation in blue ink on the blank verso of the first leaf: 'à Zoltan et Madeleine Kémeny / amitié / Jean Dubuffet'.

Kémeny was a Swiss sculptor of Hungarian descent who won the first prize at the 1964 Venice Biennale. Dubuffet was an important influence on his work.

'Calligraphié et orné d'images par Jean Dubuffet en décembre 1949, texte et illustrations ont été tracés au roseau taillé avec de l'encre lithographique sur papier report et reportés ensuite sur pierres, imprimé chez Desjobert, Paris, décembre 1949, chez les auteurs, Paris 1950.' (Webel, pg. 64).

Original blue linen-covered boards, gilt title to front cover.
