Edition of 23 copies on Rives including 3 with additional suites of the lithographs; incomplete set of proofs for the book on Rives inscribed in pencil on the final lithograph ('Profil hilaire'): 'épreuve d'essai J. Dubuffet'; also included is the lithograph for page 22 ('Lieux désolés'), one of 30 copies 'supplémentaires sur Arches' on a larger sheet (300 x 266 mm) and inscribed in pencil: 'souvenir amical à René Guiette / Jean Dubuffet 1950'.

Present in this épreuve d'essai are the following lithographs: 'Tête aux fins cheveux' (Webel 269, pg. 8), 'L'oiseleur' (Webel 271, pg. 10), 'Chasse (ou paysage aux chasseurs)' (Webel 274, pg. 13), 'Lieux desolés' (Webel 283, pg. 22), 'Voyageur au site obscur' (Webel 286, pg. 25) and 'Profil hilaire' (Webel 290, pg. 29).

René Guiette was an artist and friend of Dubuffet and Tapié and was a member of the Compagnie de l'art brut .
