The cover features a superb mirrored typographic design by Aragon himself. The boxed phrase 'Voir au dos la pensée' leads us to the rear cover where a quote by Benjamin Péret, here in Aragon's hand, reads: 'Ah que le charbon est beau sur / les routes tournesol / Tournesol et carré / Si je tourne c'est que le sol est carré' (an extract, with one variation, from Péret's poem 'Dormir dormir dans les pierres,' 1927).
