Edward Ruscha (Ed-Werd Rew-Shay) Young Artist. A book accompanying the exhibition of Prints, Drawings, and Books of Edward Ruscha at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, 1972
Ruscha, Ed
Minneapolis. 1972
A very good copy of Ruscha's iconic little green artist book / catalogue.
From the first edition limited to 2,000 copies; the 'Ed-Werd Rew-Shay' business card, often missing, is present.
Designed by Edward Ruscha and Gus Foster, the book was issued as the catalogue to accompany Ruscha's 1972 exhibition 'Prints, Drawings, and Books of Ed Ruscha' at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. The exhibition was held from April 18th to May 28th.
Printed in the format of a classic 'Big Little Book', the intentionally non-archival paper and binding glue has ensured that most extant copies are in poor condition. Included in this publication is Ruscha's previously unpublished photographic series 'Tanks, Banks, Ranks, Thanks' (1971), a complete listing of the words used by the artist in his work from 1959 through 1972 and a full 'catalogue raisonné' of the graphics to date. Also included are a biography and a checklist of prints. As with many of Ruscha's books there are a number of blank leaves.
