Ciels. Seize Images Photographiques

Albin-guillot, Laure. Maurette, Marcelle

Paris / Bordeaux. Chez Henri Colas, Editeur, et Chez Rousseau Frères. 1944
Laure Albin-Guillot's photographs of skies accompanying Marcelle Maurette's poems on the same subject.

From the edition limited to 50 copies on vélin blanc des Papeteries Johannot signed by the author, artist, and publisher to the justification (this copy unnumbered); 20 hors commerce copies were also issued.

One of the most successful commercial French photographers of the 1920s and 1930s, Laure Albin-Guillot, here turns her focus to the sky. It is not clear whether her images were produced to accompany Maurette's verse or whether Maurette's verse was produced to accompany Albin-Guillot's images. Colas and Rousseau Frères, the publishers of the present book, were also responsible for Albin-Guillot's 1946 book / portfolio 'La Déesse Cypris' whose focus was the female nude.

Marcelle Maurette's poems are as follows: 'Ciel d'Amour'; 'Le Ciel'; 'Ciel Historique'; 'Ciel de Paris'; 'Ciel de Versailles'; 'Ciel de Province'; 'Ciel d'Août'; 'Ciel d'Hiver'; 'Ciel à Travers les Branches'; 'Ciel d'Orage'; 'Ciel Champêtre'; 'Ciel de Montagne'; 'Ciel Prisonnier'; 'Ciel de Gloire'; 'Ciel Lunaire'; 'Ciel de Fête'.
