The Book of Thel. Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience
Blake, William. Ricketts, Charles
London. The Ballantyne Press [for] Messrs. Hacon & Ricketts at the Sign of the DIal ... &c. 1897
Charles Ricketts inspired by William Blake, uncut in the original publisher's boards.
From the edition limited to 210 unnumbered copies.
'With decorations designed and cut on the wood by Charles Ricketts, under whose supervision the book has been printed at the Ballantyne Press.' (From the justification).
Pasted to the verso of the leaf with the justification is a clipped printed version of Blake's 'The Land of Dreams'; the text makes it clear that this is a printing of the version in the 'Pickering Manuscript' (c.1801 - 1803) rather than the version with changes printed in Gilchrist's 'Life of Blake'.
Some toning to the printed labels to the front cover and spine and staining to the spine aside this is a very good, clean copy of a scarce book.
