A weekly satirical magazine, Le Triboulet, took an affectionate line on the theatre and cabaret performers of the day. The triboulet, or jester, was the predominant satirical image of the work and each issue begins with the 'Chronique du Triboulet'. In many ways, Le Triboulet, can be said to be the French equivalent of Punch.
