Frontzek, Anett
Kassel. (Self-published). 2001
Geological artist book by Anett Frontzek relating to changes in sea level.
From the edition limited to 5 + 1 copies, each signed and numbered by the artist in pen to the colophon page.
'In contrast to the previous Amsterdam cycle, which focused on the man-made, canal-dominated cityscape of Amsterdam, I was interested in the naturally formed and rural Mecklenburg Baltic coast and the special hydrographic conditions of the Baltic Sea.' (Anett Frontzek).
Anett Frontzek (born in Uelzen in 1965) is a conceptual artist with a background in sculpture. Her work draws on urban, architectural, geological and sociological structures. The present artist book resulted from a residency in Ahrenshoop at the Kunsterlerhaus Lukas in 2001.
WIth a very small limitation, Frontzek's book is necessarily rare. We locate two copies in institutions, both in Germany: at the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek in Munich and at Wolfenbüttel's Herzog August Bibliothek. We can find no copies at auction.
