Sur le Rhône de Lyon à Saint-Louis

Hermann-paul, René Georges

Paris. Chez l'Auteur. 1913
An exceptional copy marked 'Hors Tirage' and including all of Hermann-Paul's original drawings.

From the edition limited to 300 copies, with this unique example inscribed 'hors tirage (originaux)' and including all of Hermann-Paul's original drawings for the work, each initialled 'HP' in pencil.

As well as all 51 of the drawings for the book executed in ink and initialled by Hermann-Paul in pencil (many of these also feature pencil attributions as to place by the artist), the imprint for the cover has been effaced and marked 'Chez / l'Auteur' (presumably by Hermann-Paul himself), the justification has been altered to reflect this unique copy (marked'Hors tirage (originaux)' as above) and the title imprint has been effaced; the original illustrations for the covers have also been included together with a version of the title itself executed in ink.

The vignette for the rear cover is inscribed in pencil by Hermann-Paul as follows: 'croquis pour le cul de lampe de l'album 'Sur le Rhône' / c'est le St. Nicolas, patron des bateliers du Rhône, qui est au / Musée d'Arles. / Hermann-Paul'.
