The discussion of colour theory is between Dubuffet (the 'peintre' of the title) and Louis Barnier (the 'imprimeur') with 24 colour plates recording the colour changes - the decomposition - to the same plate.
With Barnier's New Year Card, a single folded sheet of grey wove paper (210 x 160 mm) with printed text in black: 'Que / 1963 / soit pour vous / une année / de vaches grosses / Louis Barnier / 66 avenue de Breteuil - Paris VII'.
