Wirpsza's verse, taken from the collections 'Drugi Opor, Czytelnik' (Warsaw, 1965) and 'Przesady' (Panstwowy Instytut Wydawniczy, Warsaw, 1966) was translated from the Polish by Maria Kurecka (1920 - 1989), the writer and translator of English, French and German (she translated Camus' 'La Peste', Hesse's 'Demian' among wother books) who was also Wirpsza's wife.
